Detox Diet
What is a Detox Diet? There are several detox diets available for a wide variety of reasons. They can include special diet menus, exercise, hrdrotherapy, herbs, and supplements. Some detox diet recipes include fasting liver flushing, and chelation. A detox diet plan can target any or all of the organs that are involved in detoxifying or cleansing the body. These organs are primarily the colon, liver, skin, kidneys, lungs and lymph systems. Detox diet recipes will generally minimize the amount of chemicals ingested by introducing organic foods. In addition, foods are emphasized that provide essential vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants. These foods are known for drawing out impurities and toxins in the body. There are also diets such as the lemon ade or lemon detox diet that intend to cleanse the body using a liquid fast. What Foods Can You Eat On This Diet? A sample detox diet would include all fresh fruit and vegetable. You can also enjoy brown rice, unsalted nuts, and yellow, green and lentil beans. You can cook with extra virgin olive oil and drink non caffeinated teas. You should drink a minimum of eight glasses of water a day on the liver detox diet. What Foods Should You Avoid? When participating in a detox diet you should avoid sugars and dairy products. You should also stay away from wheat and grains that contain gluten. You should alos refrain from consuming caffeine, alcohol, chocolate, and food that are high in fat. How Often Should You Go On A Detox Diet? Most advocates of the free detox diet plan recommend that you use them one or two times a year. The diet can last for any length of time. There are three day detox diets all the way to 21 day detox diets. The 3 day detox diet is less risky but generally has less significant results as well. The Side Effects One of the most common side effects of trying the detox die is a headache. The headache is generally attributed to cutting caffeine out of your diet suddenly. The headaches usually start on the second day of the diet and last for one or two days. Diarrhea is another unpleasant side effect. You should drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration from excessive loss of electrolytes. In addition, if a detox diet is continued for a long period of time nutritional deficiencies may occur.
